What is EDGE?

EDGE works with and refers small business clients to a number of partner organizations and business incubators. These organizations serve as a launching pad for entrepreneurs and small business in varies stages of development.

EDGE is all about recruiting business owners to Wayne through offering a myriad of benefits those business owners and potential entrepreneurs benefit from their investment in Wayne County. We take pride in having an entire staff that wants to see your business grow to it’s full potential.

The Main EDGE Incentives:

•TURBO Programs: Reimburses investors by giving cash back to property owners who make significant real estate investments in Wayne

•MEGA Programs: The primary tax incentive used by the state to attract or retain businesses

Wayne County on the EDGE is a joint-initiative between the state of Michigan and Wayne County. Wayne County Commissioner, Robert Ficano and Governor Rick Snyder both joined forces to lead this groundbreaking program for Michigan’s Economic future.

Wayne County Commissioner, Robert Ficano:

Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano has served the region for ten years. Mr. Ficano oversees a $2.2 billion annual budget to deliver services that citizens need the most. Committed to restoring the business landscape of the county, Mr. Ficano has launched several initiatives to help economic growth. Major initiatives under the direction of Mr. Ficano include the EDGE (Economic Development Growth Engine) Program, the expansion of Cobo Hall, and the Aerotropolis Airport City. Mr. Ficano is known for his approach of operating Wayne County as a business and treating constituents as the stakeholders.

Governor Rick Snyder:

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder was known as a businessman most of his career. Three years ago, he decided to turn this career into running for governor for the sake of Michigan’s future. Governor Snyder earned his MBA and law degree from University of Michigan before the age of 23. He has worked for several Fortune 500 companies as an accountant before opening up his own firm. Governor Snyder’s platform as a businessman committed to helping the state of Michigan grow economically resulted in a landslide victory.
